Rare diseases are by nature obscure and unknown, and as a result, they fall between the cracks when it comes to research funding and therapy development. Rare diseases, unfortunately, don't always get the attention they deserve because, well, they're rare. We used to believe that just because something is rare, it doesn't mean it won't happen. The dictionary, on the other hand, defines "rare" as "unusual." This suggests that, while unusual, it can still happen.
